My name is Denise Taylor and I own and run Hope Springs, my 4 acre smallholding in rural Chiddingly in East Sussex.
I was working as a School Business Manager until 2020 and then sadly, my father David Hope, passed away in January 2020 and left me a small inheritance which allowed me to invest in Hope Springs (hence the name of the smallholding).
I bought the land in September 2020. The land was very different to how it looks now! It was very overgrown and neglected and full of scrap and rubbish, we even uncovered a very pink car (see pics below). It has taken a lot of hard work to get it to where it is now but it now feels that the land and the trees in the ancient woodland are breathing again and have come back to life.
I am very passionate about achieving a sustainable and ethical life at the smallholding and work very hard to ensure all the livestock are well cared for and have ample space to have happy lives.
I have welcomed many visitors to the land as I want to share the land with others, the land has amazing energy and a very calming influence.
There are lots of plans for the future such as wild camping, educational visits and a place for functions, so watch this space for more information.
This really is a dream that has come true for me and I am very aware of how very lucky I am!
